Mattress Firm - Late fees
Bought a new Queen sized mattress in January. Service and delivery were great. I had no issues until I realized my payment was a few days late. I figured it would be no problem. I set up auto pay with my bank account. Two months later I get a call saying I hadn't paid.
I pull up my auto pay and tell the representative that they have received $50 every month and was told my due date was the 15th and there was no grace period! If they receive the payment a day late you get hit with a late fee, even if the due date falls on a weekend or holiday! I paid an extra $64 that month. I thought everything was okay, only to receive a letter saying I hadn't made my payment again. I knew this was wrong! In fact I was paying $60 per month now to get this paid off faster. I spoke with Customer Service which of course was a call center overseas. I asked for the Collection Department and spoke to a very rude gentleman that basically told me to shut up and let him speak.
He wanted payment for additional late charges immediately! I told him they would be paid by the 11th of July when my next payment was scheduled to go out. I explained how dissatisfied I was with Synchrony Bank policies and how I would let everyone know how unhappy I was. The Rep was very flip in stating that was how they did business and he didn't care how other banks did theirs.
Little did he know I work for a major financial firm and know policies and procedures concurrent with the FDCPA. I will be paying them off as soon as possible and not recommend anyone purchase with Mattress Firm
Reason of review: Problems with payment.
Mattress Firm Cons: No grace period.
